The Division of Biostatistics has three major missions: teaching, service, and research. The division teaches medical students the basic concepts of statistical methods that are essential to the physician practicing in today’s rapidly developing medical environment. The division provides statistical advice and collaboration to researchers throughout the University of Mississippi Medical Center for the design and analysis of animal studies, clinical trials, human observational studies, and other quantitative medical investigations. Finally, the biostatistics faculty conduct research on statistical theory and methods for the more efficient statistical evaluation of medical investigations in pursuit of definitive and reliable research conclusions.

Guidelines for Engaging Statistical Collaboration

Statistical collaboration provided by the Division of Biostatistics extends to all UMC investigators whose research is connected to their UMC mission. There is no monetary charge for statistical collaboration. However, salary support from funded sources as well as inclusion as a collaborator/co-investigator will ensure a significant amount of time will be allotted for completion of data analyses and input on reports by the biostatistician involved. We do expect to be included as co-authors in all presentations and publications where we contribute statistical advice and/or analyses.

To schedule an initial appointment contact Ms. Linda Dunn at (601) 984-1935. To allow us a better understanding of your project, we have included a checklist. If your major concern is sample size/power, we included this separately. If you have worked previously with one of the biostatisticians, you may contact them directly by phone or email.
